Friday, May 1, 2009: Getting Older with your Inner Child and Superheroes

As a friend of mine on Facebook said this afternoon, "It's May already? WHERE IS THE YEAR GOING?" I am inclined to wonder the very same. It's astonishing to me how fast the years are starting to go by, and I think it's one of the many things that come to you with age.

I remember at a younger age, I would be in awe of the many details that my parents could recall about my early years, when I could barely remember a day of anything before 6 years of age. But ever since my godson was born, I understand how easy it is to recall things like that when you're older and looking at the life of another. When I was younger, the years seemed to drag on forever, and getting to the next year felt like trying to move a Snorlax uphill with a chopstick. But now, they're just seeming to fly by, and I can only imagine the years will get shorter as I get older. I hope that as I age, I will get wiser, and more importantly, retain my ability to connect with my inner child.

So there are real superheroes out there. Okay, so none of them have actual super powers, but still, there are freakin' superheroes running around! Citizens who put on costumes and use legal weapons to fight crime. You can click on this sentence if you don't believe me. They're out there, and they're organized. I have two thoughts on this. One, I think it's really cool that people are trying to help out. I approve of it wholeheartedly. Two, these people need some better costumes. A costume should induce fear and respect, not make you look homeless.

Hey, I managed to get through this blog without mentioning Miley Cyrus! Oh wait...DANG IT!
